The scriptures are clear in connecting the process of calling church leaders with the spiritual disciplines of prayer and fasting. The Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC) would like to invite you to join us in a Lenten discipline of prayer and fasting in support of our work to call a new pastor. Traditionally, fasting was all about eating and it still can be, but it also can be about setting aside a habit or activity for a period of time and devoting the energy that would go into that activity to a spiritual task…in this case, praying for the work of the PNC. Here are some forms that might take:
Fasting from: A meal a week Visits to the coffee shop Meals out Social Media (all the time, certain days or times) Going to the movies or other forms of entertainment Fifteen minutes of sleep in the evening or morning
This discipline is not about causing yourself pain or suffering or deprivation but rather about carving out some time and energy from your busy life devoting it to praying in support of the PNC team and our work.
We are happy to let you know that your response was FANTASTIC!!! We had 64 of you respond in committing to prayer for us in some way. We are feeling it. The Holy Spirit is guiding us in some of our decision making. We ALL have to remember to be patient. This is going to happen in God’s time and it is HIS will that we are seeking.
Thank you and God’s Blessings, PNC Team
