Missions

Serving Christ by serving people, locally and around the world

Missions & Outreach

Our Heart for Missions

At First Presbyterian Church of Norwalk, missions are an expression of our faith in action. We believe God calls us to love our neighbors, serve those in need, and share the hope of Jesus Christ through tangible acts of compassion.

Our church supports and partners with ministries locally, nationally, and around the world. Some of these ministries were started by members of our own congregation, while others are long standing partnerships we are honored to support.

Together, we seek to answer God’s call by meeting physical needs, building relationships, and sharing Christ’s love wherever we are called.

Inspiration Station is a ministry located at 105 Jefferson Street in Norwalk, Ohio, serving students in that neighborhood. In 2014, it started as a “homework club” for elementary, middle, and high school students whose first language is Spanish. Since that time, Inspiration Station has expanded to provide music lessons, health clinics, Christian discipleship, and feeding programs. The volunteer-run ministry partners with local churches, charities, and social agencies. The improvement in reading and test scores demonstrates that their hard work is bearing fruit.

“Weekends Without Hunger” is a ministry that delivers individual bags of nutritious food to students in grades K–6 in the Norwalk City School District and St. Paul’s Catholic School each Friday during the school year. Starting in 2015, the program is need-based and volunteer-led. The organizers observed students who did not have an adequate meal between the school lunch on Friday and the school breakfast on Monday. This ministry makes a huge impact on the hungry in our community.

Stuff the Bus is an annual Norwalk community initiative that collects backpacks filled with grade‑appropriate school supplies to help K‑12 students in need. The program, which began in 2009, supports families of students in Norwalk City Schools, St. Paul Catholic Schools, and other local institutions. Organized and supported by local businesses, school districts, and civic groups, Stuff the Bus has grown over the years into a well-coordinated effort ensuring kids are ready to hit the classroom with the essentials they need.

Local Missions

These local ministries are supported financially by our church, and many are also supported through hands on service by our members as we care for neighbors in our community.

National Missions

Through national mission partnerships, we support organizations that equip leaders, serve communities in need, and respond to crises across the United States. These ministries extend our reach beyond our local area while staying rooted in our shared faith and purpose.

Worldwide Missions

Our worldwide mission partners serve communities across the globe through education, discipleship, relief efforts, and long term relationship building. Through prayer, support, and partnership, we join in God’s work beyond borders and cultures.
